Historical background
Taiwan Institute of Marketing Science (TIMS) was established in 2004. It is a non-profit and independent professional body for marketers of Taiwan. During almost twenty years of history, professional marketers across various fields and disciplines join as members of TIMS.

Mission
TIMS combines marketing academic theory with practical business applications, providing professional marketing research and management of scientific methods. Moreover, professionals are actively trained in the development of necessary corporate marketing research strategies.
Objective
In pursuit of marketing excellence, TIMS is committed to:
TIMS hold the directors’ and supervisors’ joint meeting twice a year and the general meeting once a year. Directors and supervisors are re-elected every four years, from which a chairman is then selected.
Currently, the top decision-makers of TIMS are Dr. Lichung Jen, the President of National Taipei University of Business, serving as the chairman, and Professor Yu-Hsiang Lin from the Department of Urban Industrial Management and Marketing, University of Taipei, serving as the secretary-general.

Symposium held in December of each year, the themes and areas of study include strategic marketing management, consumer behavior, marketing decision model, distribution and supply chain management, international marketing management, and other marketing-related issues. Submissions are restricted to doctoral students or professors to ensure the quality of the manuscript.
In July 2009, the establishment of "Marketing Examination Committee" is responsible for promoting "TIMS marketing professional competence certification" system. According to the principle of fairness and openness, the committee hopes to achieve the 3 goals as follows:
Boost the marketing expertise and knowledge of students from the college of business and management, and then enhance the competitive advantage of workplace.
Checking for marketing professional competence of personnel engaged in marketing-related work, to ensure that the marketing workforce in firms has a certain level of competitiveness.
After passing the certification, it can be a forceful reference for enterprises employing, reduces personnel costs and further enhances the competitiveness of industry. In addition, the "Professor Wen-Xian Zhou Excellence Marketing Science Thesis Award", "TIMS Outstanding Achievement Scholarships", and "Individual Excellence Award Bursary" were established as encouragements.
